Founded in 1936, the Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation based in London, United Kingdom. It is one of the largest philanthropic funders of scientific researchers in the world.

Salud Urbana en América Latina (SALURBAL) was funded beginning in 2017 through a five-year, grant as part of Wellcome's Our Planet, Our Health Program to support research on the links between human health and food systems, urbanization, and climate change. (Grant 205177/Z/16/Z)

Climate Change and Urban Health in Latin America (SALURBAL-Climate) was launched in late 2023 thanks to an additional five-year grant from the Wellcome Trust through their Climate Research Partnerships. (Grant 227810/Z/23/Z)

SALURBAL's collaboration with the World Resources Institute, "Heat and Health in Brazilian Cities" is also supported by the Wellcome Trust's Climate Impact Awards. (Grant 309840/Z/24/Z)
