SALURBAL Level 1 AD areas
Abstract
Level 1 AD (L1AD) areas created by dissolving SALURBAL L2 areas by SALID1. L1AD areas are metropolitan areas defined by administrative boundaries that can be linked to population and mortality data. Attributes include higher administrative areas that contain L1ADs (adm1_name, adm2_name). adm2_name is missing if a country's second level administrative area is the same as the SALURBAL area.8/3/23 L2 areas had topology corrected to remove overlaps and vertex outliers. Small islands were removed based on the following criteria: >6km from mainland, shape_area <300,000 sqm, and manually removed islands from Punta Arenas, Chile with low populations based on review of aerial imagery and internet searches; 9/22/2023 Corrections made to L1NAME2. Metadata updated.
